Karina Nicole González is the author of the Pura Belpré Author and Illustrator Honor Book, The Coquíes Still Sing / Los coquíes aún cantan. Her newest picture book, Churro Stand / El carrito de churros was recently selected by the New York Public Library as one of the best picture books of 2024. Karina is also a bilingual speech-language pathologist (MS, CCC-SLP, BE) and works as a tele-therapist at an Adult Transition Program in Fresno, CA from her home in Orlando, Florida. Formerly, she worked as a school-based SLP at a Title I public school in Brooklyn, NY for 7 years. While targeting students’ storytelling skills through therapy, their boundless imaginations inspired this dream to write picture books of her own. Her first picture book, The Coquíes Still Sing has sold over 40,000 copies since publication.
